PERSONAL NOTE:  We played Camas Meadows on August 23, 2007 and had a delightful experience.  While Loren had played the course before it was Cheryl's first attempt.  The report is that the scenery is gorgeous, the holes challenging and yet - for the most part - doable.  Only a couple of balls were "lost".  The staff is to be commended for the care given this course and the lovely club house.  We couldn't have asked for a lovelier day as far as weather was concerned.  Having GPS on the golf carts is a special treat and takes any guess work out of the "how far is it to the flag?" question.  There are several holes where you must hit over a wildlife/nature area.  Adds to the challenges.

THE CEDARS GOLF CLUB

15001 NE 181st Street
Brush Prairie, Washington 98606
360-687-4233

This target course has very large cedar trees lining its fairways and water coming into play on eight holes.  Shot accuracy is at a premium in order to hit the very small greens.  The most difficult hol is #2, a 435-yard, par 4, requiring a well-placed tee shot up a dogleg right fairway in order to have a clear approach shot to a well-bunkered green that slopes from back to front.
Holes:  18
Greens:  Bent Grass
Fairways:  Bluegrass
Greens Fees:  $20-49
Season: Open all year

PERSONAL NOTE:
We played this course on September 13th.  Absolutely gorgeous course.  Several holes were especially challenging due to the water/sand/nature preserves hazards.  How about hitting straight up hill?  Come on.... you can do it.

This beautiful golf course sits at the southern base of Green Mountain; a dormant volcanic cone in SW Washington (Camas/Vancouver border).  This golf course is a former dairy farm.  Nine holes were opened in November, 1999; 13 holes in May of 2000 and the full course Grand Opening took place in July, 2000.
In December of 2000 a driving range was opened to provide golfers a place to warm up, students a place to practice and the instructors a place to teach.  A feature unique to Green Mountain Golf Course is that their range mats are placed on sand instead of cement, providing golfers an extra element of shock absorption.

2425 NW 69th Street
Vancouver, Washington  98665

The PGA rated this as the hardest par 3 course in the nation in 1990.  There are sand bunkers and water hazards coming into play on every hole.  The fairways are lined with a variety of trees, and the terrain is flat.  All the small greens are crown shaped and fast.  There are 200 trees on this course, so the fairways are narrow.  Ladies tee off from the same set as the men.  There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an eighteen hole round.  The scorecard doesn't show handicaps for individual holes.

This narrow course has pine trees lining all its fairways.  However, the back nine fairways are more forgiving than the front nine.  The greens are slightly sloped, average speed, and "postage stamp" sized.  There are some sand bunkers positioned around the course, and water hazards come into play on five holes.  The signature hole is #17, a 205-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water that runs the entire length of the hold.  The terrain is flat and easy to walk.  Tee times are only reserved for weekends and holidays.
