POVERTY RATE DOWN AND HOUSEHOLD INCOME UP
According to a recent U.S. Census Bureau report released August 28, 2007, household income was up in Clark County and poverty rates were down. Bart Phillips, president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council, said the rising income numbers can be directly attributed to the work of local government and agencies involved in economic development over the past 20 years. (as quoted in The Columbian August 29, 2007).
